Sub-collection navigation for Shopify
Shopify collections are flat. Fellhelm Collection Paths adds navigation links between related collections so customers can browse by fit, occasion, sleeve length, or any other grouping you choose.
What Fellhelm Collection Paths Does
Fellhelm Collection Paths adds navigation directly to Shopify collection pages. It links related collections together and displays those links as text pills or image cards above the product grid.
Links Related Collections
Choose which collections to connect. Each link points to a real Shopify collection page with its own URL and products.
Pills or Image Cards
Display navigation as compact text pills or visual image cards. Choose per collection based on the category.
Curated by You
Choose exactly which sub-collections to show. Drag to reorder. Full control over selection and display.
No Code Required
Built as a native Shopify app block. Add it through the theme customiser. No theme editing or developer needed.
Why Shopify Stores Use Collection Navigation
Shopify collections are flat. Every collection exists at the same level. There is no built-in way to nest one collection inside another or create parent and child relationships between collections.
This means a customer landing on a broad collection such as "Men's Shirts" sees every shirt in a single grid. Long sleeve, short sleeve, overshirts, and formal shirts all appear together with no way to browse by type from the page itself.
Menus can show sub-categories in the site header, but that navigation disappears once a customer is on the collection page. On mobile, many customers never reopen the menu while browsing.
Shopify filters can narrow results within a collection, but filters work differently from category navigation. They modify the current view rather than guiding customers to a separate, curated collection page.
Fellhelm Collection Paths solves this by displaying links between related collections directly on the collection page. Customers can move from a broad collection to a more specific one without leaving the browsing context.

Collection navigation works for any store where customers browse products in natural sub-categories.

Scale with Templates
Create a navigation template once and apply it to many collections at once. Available on the Pro plan.
Configuring collection navigation one page at a time works fine for a few collections. But stores with dozens or hundreds of collections need a faster way to work.
Templates let you define a set of links, choose a layout, and save it as a reusable configuration. Then apply that template to as many collections as you need in one step.
If your product structure repeats across categories, templates eliminate the repetitive setup. Update the template and every collection using it stays in sync.
Create once
Define links, layout, and display settings as a reusable template.
Apply at scale
Assign the template to many collections in one step.
Update everywhere
Change the template and every collection using it updates automatically.
Templates are available on the Pro plan.
Collection Navigation vs Shopify Filters
Shopify filters narrow products within a single collection. A customer can filter by size, colour, or price without leaving the page.
Fellhelm Collection Paths does something different. It links to separate collection pages. When a customer clicks a navigation link, they move to a new collection with its own URL, product set, and metadata.
Filters refine results. Collection navigation guides customers to a different category.
Many stores benefit from using both. Collection navigation helps customers reach the right collection, then filters help them find the right product within it.
| Shopify Filters | Fellhelm Collection Paths | |
|---|---|---|
| Purpose | Narrow products within a collection | Navigate to a related collection |
| Page behaviour | Same page updates | New collection page loads |
| Typical use | Size, colour, price | Category, fit, occasion |
